Carrie Fisher Passes At Age 60

Carrie Fisher has passed away at age 60.

Fisher, best known for portraying Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies, suffered cardiac arrest while on board a flight on Friday and was entered into intensive care. She passed away four days later.

Carrie Fisher was on a flight Friday from London to LA, returning from filming her latest season of Amazon’s Catastrophe, when she went into cardiac arrest (around noon PT), which is said to have occurred 15 minutes prior to landing, with an EMT on the plane administering CPR. Carrie Fisher suffered a heart attack and remained in intensive care throughout the weekend with the last report being she was in stable condition.

Chelsea Hayes, a rep for Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, confirmed the news of Carrie Fisher’s passing.

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Carrie Fisher is survived by her mother, Debbie Reynolds; daughter, Billie Lourd; her brother Todd Fisher and two half-sisters. Fisher was also briefly married to singer Paul Simon.

Carrie Fisher recently finished filming on Star Wars: Episode VIII and was featured as Princess Leia in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Fisher was also a novelist and recently published The Princess Diarist.
